Custom Order FAQ's
Can I send you a tablecloth and have you make it into a dress for me?
Yes! I am planning to start offering a few "custom order" slots in each shop update. If you would like to send me a tablecloth to have turned into a dress, please purchase one of these slots. After purchase, I will reach out by email within 2 days so we can chat about the details. Please check the tablecloth requirements below before purchasing a slot to make sure the tablecloth you have in mind will work for this dress. If you're unsure, feel free to email me ~ I'm always happy to answer questions!
What size tablecloth is required?
Tablecloths need to be rectangular in shape and measure at least 60" long. The length (longer dimension) determines how long I am able to make the finished dress & the width (shorter dimension) determines what size of dress I am able to make from it. Please see table below for specific dimensions.
What if the tablecloth I want to use has holes, spots, or other damage?
Older tablecloths often show signs of wear; for example, stains, loose threads, holes, etc. You should assume that if the tablecloth you send me has flaws, those same flaws will be present in the finished dress. That said, I do my best to cut around any problem areas I see, &/or place them in inconspicuous locations, but this is not always possible. There are certain portions of the tablecloth that must be used in order to create this dress.
How does the process work?
If your order is selected, I will get in touch to chat about sizing, discuss the specifics of the tablecloth you'd like to use, & make sure we're both comfortable moving forward. If so, I will provide my address so that you can mail your tablecloth to me. Once I receive it, I'll check it over in person to make sure it's a good candidate for turning into a dress. Then, I will reach out again to confirm receipt & ask any follow up questions that I may have (about pattern placement, dress length, etc).
How much does a custom dress cost?
$300 + shipping.
How long does it take?
My current turnaround time for custom orders is 6 weeks from the time I receive your tablecloth. If you need your dress sooner, please let me know before placing your order, so I can let you know if a rush order is possible.
Do you accept returns?
All sales are final on custom order pieces. No returns/refunds.
Do I get to choose my size?
Yes! That's one of the advantages of having me make a custom dress just for you. Please refer to my size chart & make sure you feel confident about your size, as there are no returns or refunds on custom orders. If you're unsure or have any questions about sizing, please don't hesitate to reach out.
How does shipping work?
You pay to ship your tablecloth to me. Shipping to send your finished dress to you is calculated at the time you place your order & added to the purchase price.
What about scraps?
In general, these dresses create very little waste. The "scraps" leftover after cutting are usually quite small. If you would like me to return any unused portions of the tablecloth to you, however, along with your finished dress, I am happy to do so - just let me know! Otherwise, I will keep them for use in mending, patchwork, or other future projects.
Can you make a different style of dress for me?
At this time, I only offer custom orders for the Solstice Dress.
Tablecloth Sizes
These are the minimum tablecloth dimensions required for each size dress. Larger is better, as it gives me more options for pattern placement & design choices. The measurements in the chart below will make approximately knee-length dresses. Mid-calf-length dresses require longer tablecloths.
